I just wanted to say thanks for covering the video of the father shooting the laptop. I totally agree with you and was surprised to find someone with the same view of the whole situation. I commented on how wrong this video was on my friends share and when I checked out the original video I was disgusted with all the comments agreeing with this man. Nobody seemed to realize that it is only the fathers side. We don’t know what her life is like besides her letter and him. Also was her letter just hidden from her parents or something that was private just for her to read and they logged into her account? Either way it shows that she doesn’t have an open relationship with at least her father and she needed to vent. So you want to speak you mind?? I’m going to shoot your laptop! Good yeah..sounds like he’s the perfect candidate for the NWO. Notice how he doesn’t mention how she doesn’t have to make his coffee everyday. If I had to do that it would make me feel like a slave too! Especially for someone I hate! Plus he talks about “when I was your age” come on really? So because you did all this shit your daughter has to live up to that as well? No pressure there! Yeah I have to say if I was that kid I would be severely depressed.

I had another thought on the name change subject. It just seems like a silly battle to pick to me. What are people rebelling against? I’ve heard people call their given names their slave names, but it just seems more than a bit blown out of proportion. We all have a given name. Obviously we aren’t going to pick names when we’re babies. I’m totally find with anyone changing their name if they want to. I’ve had friends do it and gone along and adjusted my habits of how I referred to them. It just feels like a trend right now that’s kind of silly and makes people look kooky.

In my view, W/S/M’s may have a tendency towards the liberty movement because of a lack of incentivization to participate in the current affirmative action culture. They seem to be one of the only ‘classes’ of people who aren’t readily indoctrinated to be disaffected by how society is currently aligned. Without this cultural programming or a minority collective to be a part of, W/S/M’s may be more easily primed to see the injustices against them as non-causal to their race/creed/sex ect.; without the distraction they may see the source of the force more easily. Libertarianism seems to be as much about embracing individual reliance & promoting equal justice as it is about rejecting collective victim-hood.

Then again, your ‘Prometheus’ theory about libertarians being hyper-rational (nigh autistic) socially awkward penguins may have some weight as well; though I personally believe this is only a stereotyped minority.

Just a thought.

Wow, Jovaskig, that’s a wonderful video that I hadn’t seen before. Thanks for the link. Yes, it is ironic how the character of the autistic reporter, being ignorant of social conventions, points out obvious inconsistencies in the soldiers’ thinking. Great piece of incisive humor.
