Bonus time! Or should I say, “Bronie time?” Jeff, who called in on a couple of recent Porc Therapy episodes, joins me to talk more in-depth about gender roles, culture, and My Little Pony. Thanks to Jeff for having this discussion with me!

Porc Therapy is a pro-freedom relationship talk show that takes a unique look at the question of how we can attain the most individual liberty possible, starting with our personal lives and relationships with others.

I’m not sure if MLP presents itself well looking from volunaryist perspective. Yeah, there are all kinds of female characters in there, not only girly girls and this is good. Unfortunately there is also a lot of questionable stuff there, here are just a few examples from the top of my head:
1) Absolute ruler of Equestria (princess Celestia) is presented as extremely benevolent and selfless. Her subjects are fully obedient, grateful to her, always ready to bow before her and (for unknown reason) fearful of her… Not the best conditioning of children viewers i dare to say…
2) The show encourages to believe in inexplicable stuff… Veiled nod towards religions i guess.
3) In equestrian history free trade between pony tribes was cause of so much selfishness and hatred that it caused a cataclysm that forced all the ponies to migrate to Equestria, almost wiping them all out before they rebuilt.
4) Enslavement of other intelligent species (sheep) by ponies.
5) Children are treated as subjects of their guardians, expected by them to sit quietly when adults are talking. Say bye to peaceful parenting.

Jeff sounded so nervous, especially with his laughing. He needs to practice talking more.

Thanks for your comments. I don’t watch the show myself so I’m not too familiar with the themes. Interesting to know, though.
