hey mike & stephanie! i havent listened to this episode yet, but seeing the topic i just had to comment and recommend a book, which for me was one of those epiphanies that changed my views on alot of things. “sex at dawn- the origins of human sexuality”, by christopher ryan and cacilda jetha, was fascinating and, in my opinion, offered the best-fitting theories as to why we cheat(we are not biologically programmed for monagomy), why women are multi-orgasmic (and louder in bed), purposes of sex in a society, even the advent of paternalism and so-called subjugation of women (agriculture).
one of the more intersting topics was the theory of partible paternity, which most people apparently believed in prehistory, and some still do, that a baby is a mixture of many men’s sperm. indeed, women would have sex with men with different desirable characteristics in order to ensure the child got them. this also ensured that most men in the group had a direct stake in every child.
hope this wasnt too rambling..i have my 4 month old squirming on my lap, apparently trying to nosedive onto the floor…but i just cant pass up preaching about this book ;) cheers!

Antonia deserves my congratulations and also my envy that she got this book before I did. Your description of what this book contains is so accurate! As I read the book (I am 61) I was sure it would be misunderstood by so many people. But you, Antonio, you just had a baby! You must be young. I am so glad to have found a person with such an interesting ability. As I was reading your message the least I expected to find was that you are a mother of a 4-month kid. — Isn’t it absolutely the best way to explain what we mean by dehumanized humankind? I am still enjoying this book and I don’t want it to be over. I need more of what I had already SUSPECTED was wrong in the human condition as it is today. I knew it had to have been different before agriculture. Thanks, Antonia!

Thanks for the thoughts, Antonia and Artcomm. It’s interesting – and funny, to me – that Antonia posted though she had not listened to our show, and Artcomm posted about Antonia’s post and didn’t even mention our show. Are you guys listening to us, or just finding our website via searches for other topics and posting here? :)
