Porc Therapy

Hello Porcs,

I’m having trouble with something and I wanted to ask for your help. Giggle all you want, Stephanie. I’m a straight guy. I’ve been dating a girl for about 4 months and have been getting sick of her starting about a month ago. The problem is that she’s so nice and sweet. I feel bad about wanting to break up with her, but I just don’t want to be in a relationship with her. The thing is that every time I try to have the conversation with her about breaking up, I can’t do it. She’s so nice and I don’t want to hurt her feelings. Can you help me think of a way to break up with her without her feeling devastated?

Love the show.

Porc Therapy 114: Mediation

What is mediation? How does it help resolve conflicts without forcing a decision on someone, like the “government justice system” does?

Porc Therapy 112: Favors

January 18, 2011

1) Listener feedback regarding our “Giggling” episode (#110)

2) [Question:] Why is it so hard to accept favors from friends? I often try to do favors for my friends and refuse their offers of payment (like cash or by buying me lunch or something), but when friends do favors for me I feel bad if I don’t compensate them in some way.

How do you tell someone they have bad breath or body odor?

Porc Therapy 110: Giggling

January 11, 2011

Been loving the podcast. Don’t stop giggling Stephanie. It is my favorite part of the show. You don’t giggle as much as you do on SheTalkLive though. Why do women giggle more when they are together?

Hey, here’s a question. I was listening to the Complete Liberty podcast* about gender roles. How does the learned attribute of acquiescing in women relate to their propensity to giggle?

* Actually, Stephanie was discussing this with Wes and Brett on School Sucks Podcast (http://www.schoolsucksproject.com/podcasts/77).

Dear Stephanie and Mike,

I come from a pretty chaotic and poor family. I’d say that most of my immediate family have dropped out of high school, don’t work, have children, are on welfare, and have an addiction to “illegal” substances. I grew up in one of these households with a divorced mother and two sisters.

There is plenty of fighting, bad communication, and passive aggression in my family. I have come to realize that I can do without almost everyone in my family with little inner conflict, but I want to stay close to my mother, grandparents, sisters, and especially my 3 year old niece.

Except my grandparents, my mother and sisters aren’t working and are raking in different kinds of welfare payments. There is plenty of bad communication and guilt tripping going on amongst them, some light substance abuse (cigarettes, pot, pills) and I would like to … help them, especially for the sake of my niece.

I don’t think they would take too well to the idea of libertarianism, non-violent communication, and self-reliance too quickly — but I was wondering if maybe you could discuss how to save a child essentially from a train wreck of a household, and improve the lives of people I grew up with and care about.

Hey there. I have two very brief questions for you two:

1. I have naturally curly hair, but it turns in to a fro. How can I get my hair to look like the kid in the pictures I sent you? Any specific hair-care suggestions?

2. Should guys shave all their pubes or just keep them short? If you aren’t in a sexual relationship, should you even care about them? Is it a sign that you don’t get any?
